Sepidar and Sheiban prisons in Ahwaz witnessed protests by prisoners against deliberate negligence by the Prison Directorate and not providing medical staff to treat prisoners infected with Covid-19.
As a result, the Prison Directorates summoned revolutionary guards and intelligence armed forces to enter the prisoners and place the prisoners under physical and psychological torture.
Iranian intelligence considered that the political prisoners in Sepidar prison and those who were also arrested in Section 5 and 8 of Sheiban prison triggered these protests therefore they brutally tortured these prisoners as punishment.
Hundreds of relatives gathered in front of Sepidar and Sheiban prisons until the Revolutionary Guards forcefully removed them from the scene.
Relatives of the prisoners reported the burning fire in the prison and that the Rrevolutionary Guard forces fiercely opened fire on the prisoners.
More than 20 prisoners were killed and more than 220 injured due to the shooting and the fire at both of the prisons.
Among those shot dead by the Revolutionary Guards are:
Reda Khoransi (Meghinmi), 38 years old, married and residents of The City of Khafaja
Mohammed Salamat, a resident of Mashali neighborhood in Ahwaz, the capital
Mohammed Tamuli, 35, a resident of Basitin.

The prison directorate has transferred a number of political prisoners in Sheiban prison to an unknown location, including:
Muhammad Ali Al-Amouri.
Abdul Zahra Heliji.
Yasser Al-Boushoka.
Mukhtar Al-Boushoka.
They were probably transferred to the solitary confinement cells of intelligence headquarter in Ahwaz.
In a statement issued on March 26, Amnesty International called on the Iranian authorities to immediately release all prisoners for fear of being infected with the coronavirus, which has claimed hundreds of thousands of lives worldwide.
