Ahwaz – August 14, 2025: Human rights sources have reported that Arab citizen Ali Sʿeibri, 47 years old and a resident of Ahwaz, has been missing since he was summoned to the intelligence headquarters of the city’s Security Department on August 3, 2025, without any legal justification or informing his family about his situation or place of detention.

Given Sʿeibri’s heart condition, his continued disappearance poses a direct threat to his life. His ongoing detention without trial or official notification constitutes a grave violation of citizens’ fundamental rights, including the right to personal liberty and the right to know the fate of a detainee rights guaranteed under the local constitution and international human rights agreements, including the International Convention for the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearance (2006) and Article 7 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, which prohibit arbitrary detention and enforced disappearance.

His family stated that despite their constant follow-up and repeated visits to the intelligence headquarters, they have received no information about his health condition or legal status. Human rights activists in Ahwaz have described Sʿeibri’s disappearance as a case of enforced disappearance that requires immediate intervention by both local and international authorities to ensure his safety and his right to a fair trial.
