It's been two weeks since Basem Batrani, an Ahwazi political prisoner, paralyzed after being subjected to brutal torture by the Iranian intelligence service in Shaiban town in the capital city of Ahwaz.
It was reported that prisoners of the 5th section of Shaiban prison where Basem is incarcerated currently are treating him with the simplest means but they have threatened to go on hunger strike if he do not get transferred for medical treatment in a hospital.
Worth mentioning that Basem Batrani is the the brother of Ali Batrani who was killed by a direct fire from Iranian security forces deliberately targeting the demonstrators in 2005 uprising.
Walking down the memory lane, in 2005 Ahwazis staged mass protests all around the province against Iran's plan to change the demographic nature of the ethnic Arab populated province.
The plan was exposed shortly after the leakage of a document from the office of ex-president Mahmood Khatami included Must-Be executed policies to reduce the arab population to one-third of the total population of the the province through forced migration and eliminating the traces of arab Culture and language.
According to Ahwazis reports more than 220 Ahwazi protesters were killed and based on a statistic from Chamran University more than 150,000 were arrested.
Basem Batrani had participated in several peaceful demonstrations and was arrested while participating in a peaceful protest with his second brother Hassan Batrani.
